Kids Senior / Novice Program Information

Program Information

This program is designed for dedicated grade school-aged wrestlers that consistently train and compete year-round in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and/or Greco-Roman. Enrollment is offered for students that seek year-round or partial-year training beyond their seasonal club or school.

Kids Senior/Novice students will build on existing knowledge of wrestling fundamentals and competitive experience while simultaneously sharpening a wrestler’s technique. Each seasonal program is progressively structured to learn and practice advanced technique while building base conditioning and improving existing skills, reflexes, timing, and performance in live wrestling. Students will be trained to reach a higher individual level through: 1) exposure to in-depth and detailed instruction on advanced wrestling technique; 2) critiqued live wrestling with well-matched partners; 3) participating in challenging and intense class practice; and 4) encouraging students to push their physical and competitive limits.

  • Post-Season: The first few weeks of class will focus on preparation for the Folkstyle national tournaments. The class focus will then turn to Freestyle wrestling technique and strategies to prepare students for success at the numerous in-state, regional, and national competitions. The final few weeks after Freestyle nationals the class will return to Folkstyle instruction to round out the summer and lay the foundation for the upcoming Pre-Season program.

  • Pre-Season: Instruction is solely focused on Folkstyle technique, structured drilling, and live wrestling with an emphasis on intense conditioning to prepare students for the season. With the start of competition just around the corner, the Pre-season is a prime time to gain new skills and enhance existing ones, sharpen reactions, and improve timing.

  • In-Season: Training for the In-Season is available only to students that are enrolled in programs for the current year. No guests will be permitted to participate. Classes for the In-Season will be held on Mondays. Given the busy schedule of the kids' wrestling season, these classes will be on a walk-in basis. The agenda for every Monday class will be as follows: trouble-shooting, technique, drilling, and maintaining motivation, as well as hard wrestling and/or conditioning with great partners.
