ABOUT ME
I
majored in dance education in order to someday teach dance.
I will be getting my teaching credential in order to teach dance
and physical education in a high school setting. I will also
like to coach the wrestling team since I’ve been wrestling
for 11 years and have been on the US National Team. I expect
myself to succeed in whatever I do because I am a dedicated
student and hard worker. I always finish what I start and I
don’t give up very easily. If I have the desire to do
something I follow through with my dream and I always meet the
goals that I set for myself.
Motivations
for Pursuing Teaching Credential
With the
experience that I’ve had working with the youth I feel
that I am a good and positive role model for high school students.
I feel that teaching is one of my strong qualities and a gift
that God has blessed me with.
Career
Goal Life Experiences
I have had
some great opportunities teaching dance, water aerobics, bodysculpting,
weightlifting, and wrestling. I taught 4-6 year olds ballet
and jazz at the YMCA in Marshall, MO. I taught 5-14 year olds
capoeira and clog dancing at Robin’s Studio in San Lorenzo,
CA for a dance workshop. I taught 3 dance classes at Capuchino
High in San Bruno for a 45 hour internship, where I taught jazz
dances to the students and they performed the dances at the
Dance Education Day at SFSU. My second internship was at Robin’s
Academy of Dance in San Lorenzo, where I helped and learnt how
to run a dance studio; I also helped with three dance classes,
(1) Tap, ballet, tumbling for children; (2) Tap for pre-teens
and older; and (3) Ballet/pointe for pre-teens and older.
I was an
aqua aerobic instructor at the YMCA in Pleasant Hill, CA and
a cardio/sculpt instructor at the YMCA in San Francisco. I was
a personal trainer at the YMCA as well. I have coached a high
school girls’ wrestling club at the Concord Youth Center
in Concord, CA for two years. I have assisted with the wrestling
team at Ygnacio Valley High and the women’s wrestling
team at Menlo College.
I have also
had opportunities to perform and choreograph in dance productions
at my high school, and three different colleges. I have performed
in my high school, Ygnacio Valley High, dance productions in
1994, 1995, and 1996. I performed at Diablo Valley College Dance
Show in 1999. I performed in “Works in Progress”
showings at Missouri Valley College in 1999, 2000, 2001. I have
also choreographed in San Francisco State University’s
Dance Production, “New Moves,” in Fall 2002.
