ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I spent the first 22 years of my life living in my hometown. I graduated with honors from Harvard University (class of 2001), earning a B.A. in psychology (focused in cognitive development). During my four years at Harvard, I developed an interest in web and graphic design, and began my own freelance design business. My other artistic love has always been photography. I began doing predominantly landscape and architectural photography when I was in high school, and currently focus mostly upon sports photography. One of my most popular websites is AmateurWrestlingPhotos.com, which displays wrestling photos taken by myself and two other photographers at various major national and international wrestling tournaments. I also started a website called ChicagoMMA.net during the 3 years I lived in Chicago, which I used to displayed my pictures from Mixed Martial Arts events around Chicagoland.

Aside from my creative endeavors, I focus on athletics. I competed for 11 years on the women's freestyle wrestling national scene, during which time I relocated numerous times across the USA to pursue training and coaching opportunities (including CA, NJ, CO, OR, NY, and IL). Past accomplishments have included 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the US Nationals, qualifying for the 2004 US Olympic Team Trials, winning the University National Championships, as well as serving 3 years on the US Women's Freestyle National Team.
After the 2008 US Nationals, I decided to end my competitive career in freestyle wrestling. I have since begun competing in Submission Grappling/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Thus far, I have earned 7 gold medals, 2 silvers, and one bronze in a variety of different grappling tournaments, and I represented the USA at the 2009 FILA Grappling World Championships, placing 4th in my division. I won my amateur MMA debut by submission (arm triangle choke, 32 seconds, round 1) on June 26, 2010 and hope to fight again in the future.
In my spare time, I am an avid sports fan. Aside from my obvious interest in combat sports, I try and watch most NBA and NFL games, especially when my hometown Celtics or Patriots are playing. I am a contributor to CelticsLife.com, an award-winning Boston Celtics blog where I post anything from breaking news to original comedic photoshops and video mixes.
